About This Place

Located in the vibrant heart of Sayulita, Santas Iguanas is a must-visit gem that brilliantly fuses a casual yet electric atmosphere with a diverse menu that will delight every palate. This unique establishment functions as a restaurant, bar, espresso bar, and even wine cellar, creating a well-rounded experience for locals and travelers alike. Whether you’re savoring a handcrafted espresso or unwinding with a glass from their curated selection of wines, Santas Iguanas knows how to keep the vibe alive.

The cuisine here masterfully blends Mediterranean and Italian influences, offering standout dishes that have quickly become favorites among both regulars and visitors. If you’re craving pizza, the Pizza Iguana is an absolute must, boasting a perfectly crispy crust topped with fresh, vibrant ingredients that burst with flavor. Vegetarians and vegans are warmly welcomed with options like the Pizza Vegetariana and a lovingly crafted Vegan Lasagna, both rich in texture and full of fresh, wholesome ingredients.

Pasta lovers will find their paradisiacal spot in Santas Iguanas. The handmade pastas include delights such as the Pasta Pesto, where freshly prepared Italian pesto clings seductively to al dente noodles, and you can choose succulent chicken or earthy shrimp to elevate the dish further. The classic Pasta Carbonara delivers a deeply comforting, silky sauce with smoky bacon and a perfect balance of richness and freshness. For something heartier, the Lasagna Bolognese layers tender pasta sheets with a slow-simmered ragù, melding flavors of premium ground meat, white wine, and a medley of subtle vegetables. For the vegan crowd, the Vegetarian Lasagna and the Pasta Vegan—studded with artichokes, mushrooms, roasted peppers, and sun-dried tomatoes—are as satisfying as they are vibrant.

A menu highlight that keeps patrons returning is the chef’s special Falafel, which arrives crisp and golden, nestled on a bed of fresh greens, tomatoes, and cucumbers, topped with a refreshing tzatziki that can be adapted to vegan preferences. Another dish lauded by visitors is the Fish of the Day, prepared Mediterranean-style—wrapped and cooked to retain all the natural flavors, accompanied by beautifully roasted garden vegetables.

But what truly sets Santas Iguanas apart is the unmistakable atmosphere. The vibrant neon lights and playful graffiti art create a backdrop that’s both edgy and inviting. Patrons like Hector Meza rave about the “immaculate vibe” complete with cold drinks and well-chilled service staff who bring an effortless cool to the scene. The presence of a calm Xolo dog perched like a local celebrity only adds to the welcoming charm.

The staff’s attentiveness and knowledge also shine, particularly with guests who have specific dietary needs. Coeliac diners like Raquel Villegas have praised Santas Iguanas for understanding gluten-free cuisine deeply, offering clearly labeled menus and safe, delicious options that allow everyone to indulge without worry.

Dog owners will appreciate the dog-friendly policy here, making it easy to enjoy long, leisurely meals in a relaxed setting alongside your furry friend, a feature highlighted by many, including Chris “Mad Plaid” Anderson, who found the balance of attentive service and local friendliness perfect for a memorable gathering.

With stellar dishes like the pizza and meatballs that inspired Sean Cosco to return twice during his visit, and the perfect balance of exotic flavors and comfort food that keep all palates engaged, Santas Iguanas feels less like a restaurant and more like a culinary home away from home. Whether you’re looking to unwind with great food, sip exquisite wines, or grab an expertly brewed coffee, this spot on Calle Gaviotas Sur promises an unforgettable Sayulita experience.

Vibe was immaculate. Neon, graffiti, cold drinks, and the staff was mad chill. They even had vegan options for me, and a Xolo posted up like he owned the place. 10/10 would pull up again.

Fantastic gluten-free experience! I’m coeliac, and this restaurant truly impressed me. They have a clear understanding of gluten-free needs — all pasta sauces are gluten free, they offer gluten-free pasta options, and the menu is clearly labelled for easy selection. The staff was very knowledgeable and careful, and the service was excellent. Delicious food, safe options, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a genuine gluten-free friendly place!

It was a really nice experience on Santa’s iguanas! The staff the chef the atmosphere was nice and most importantly. The pastas had wonderful flavors and of course hand made. The only reason I didn’t give a five star was the hummus entree. It wasn’t as creamy as hummus is suppose to be. But that doesn’t change the fact that it was an overall nice experience for us :))

The Santos Iguana restaurant is the only restaurant we ate at twice. The pizza and meatballs were amazing, the pasta carbonara was out of this world, and the owner and staff made us feel like we were visiting them at home! Such a comfortable place to dine!

Dog friendly Amazing! Fresh great food at a reasonable price. The staff was fun and attentive enough to balance out knowing you were in mexico and a resort town. For 3 of us drinking and eating for like 4hrs...the price was $1200, not bad for Sayulita. A must go to! So much so probably will bring friends for a birthday party next week.
